I would like to congratulate Infosys for their widely-covered announcement that they intend to hire more American workers. As one of the largest users of our country’s H-1B visa program to provide outsourced technology workers for their clients, we understand why they need to begin diversifying their talent pool by including more American workers.
Second, welcome to the hire American party, Infosys – where have you been all this time? Four years ago, before there were any threats about visa restrictions and no “hire American” imperatives hanging over the heads of the technology industry, my company formed an industry-leading program to train and deploy American military veterans in critical technology roles.
Why did we do it? Because it brought better-trained talent to our clients and provided a stronger future for our veterans and their families. In other words, it was smart business and the right thing to do.
Congratulations for the fanfare your announcement has produced. As for me and my company, we are redoubling our efforts to not only build great futures for our clients and American workers, but for the military men and women who have sacrificed much, yet still have so much more to offer this country.
