Business Need or Challenge
The current platform used by Freddie Mac, a major mortgage packager and reseller and anchor V.E.T.S. Program client based in Virginia, for Credit Enhancement (CE) Front End is no longer supported by the vendor. This platform update impacts several critical processes in its Single Family business line. The operations month-end close process, the Accounting Financial month-end process, and the valuation of the Credit Enhancement portfolio would be critically impacted by the platform update. The business objective is to re-platform the CE Front-End Manager application to Web-Based Java technology.
Sharp Decisions’ Solution or Participation
An initial roll-out of the application update was problematic. The client assigned a Quality Assurance team consisting of one of Sharp Decisions’ V.E.T.S. with four other testers to retest the application once possible solutions had been implemented. While integrating the new system, the QA team’s mission was to perform both system integration testing and user acceptance testing. This was accomplished by running numerous SQL queries across databases as a form of regression testing. The QA team worked directly with the development team by running test cases to test fixes.
Benefit or Outcome
The testing ultimately revealed significant flaws in the business requirements which would have resulted in a failed implementation. The project was halted when this became apparent which saved the client considerable wasted time and resources in negative impact to the Single Family business line. The client was able to benefit from this solution by being able to address the core issues in the business requirements much earlier than would have otherwise been possible.
