EmblemHealth, the largest health insurer in New York State and anchor V.E.T.S. Program client, was required to modify a large number of applications to comply with the Affordable Care Act, particularly in relation to the electronic coding for medical procedures. Managing the status reporting of the Quality Assurance phases of dozens of these concurrent projects using their existing processes became unmanageable. This drove a need to develop a method to expedite this process.
Sharp Decisions’ Solution
Initially a Sharp Decisions V.E.T.S. QA team operated in support of the reporting process within the organization. Once they assimilated the client’s processes and methods they were able to assume responsibility for the QA reporting function and address the report automation challenges. The Sharp Decisions V.E.T.S. QA team took the initiative to implement an effective solution while increasing their skills in the process.
Through a combination of scripting, SQL, and HP’s Quality Center/Application Lifecycle Management built-in reporting capabilities, they were able to reduce individual report generation time from an average of 45 minutes to under one minute per report.
The client benefited from the report automation by being able to provide accurate and timely status on dozens of concurrent projects in the QA phase as well as reducing the manpower needed for the QA reporting function.
